Used Rolex Oyster Submariner 5513 circa 1969

Long Description:

This vintage Rolex Submariner has been to the spa and has come back looking refreshed.
 
The Rolex model 5513 was sent to Rolex in Beverly Hills for an over haul and service. The owner was offered a slew of options which he agreed to pay for, all totaling about $1200! The bills are included as the watch is still covered under Rolex’s one year warranty.
 
The work done included a full factory movement service, a new dial and hands (apparently the old ones didn’t glow anymore and the owner wanted to tell the time at night), a new crystal, a new Oyster 93150 fliplock bracelet, new bezel insert and here’s the kicker, a new serial number! Apparently the bracelet originally on the watch had started rubbing on the area between the lugs and portions of the serial number were rubbed off. Rolex then assigned the watch a US serial number which obviously starts, US…..
This is the first time I have seen this, so undaunted I took the watch to Rolex in NYC to confirm this and to see if they could locate the original serial number. They did confirm the watch was authentic, confirmed the warranty, but could not locate the original serial number even though the watch had been to the NYC office 4 times since its purchase in 1969.
 
I am not sure what else to tell you about this watch other than you will not find a cleaner 5513 on the market which has been fully authenticated and warranted by Rolex till some time later this year, as neither the warranty nor the Rolex receipt to the jeweler are dated.
 
The watch measures 40 mm wide by 48 mm long.
