Name:
Vintage IWC, calibre 83 anti-magnetic watch with exotic dial
Short Description:
IWC stainless steel screw-back case with exotic dial, sought after sub-seconds movement.
Long Description:
A truly rare anti-magnetic IWC wristwatch dating to late 1930’s based on the movement in the 900,xxx range and the design of the dial with strong references to the Art-Deco style.
Perhaps the most intriguing feature of the watch is the original dial with exotic luminous markers and original luminous hands. I have often seen these dials selling for exorbitant prices by themselves. The original script is still present on the dial but is somewhat faded due to aging and patina. The dial is also signed Anti- Magnetic.
The watch features the famed manual wind movement, caliber 83 that was also used in the legendary IWC MK 10 military issued wrist watches of World War 2.
The solid steel case is marked Acier Staybrite which was one of the earliest forms of stainless steel used in wristwatches. Note the subtle notching on the case back for the tool to open the screw down case back.
The watch measures 33 mm wide by 36 mm long. The watch is supplied on a new leather strap that was specifically made for the watches unusual military style fixed steel lugs.
