Gruen Curvex Vintage watch, with fancy gold filled case

Yellow gold filled vintage Gruen Curvex with fancy case.

This Gruen Curvex vintage watch is one I don’t see often, actually the last one I posted for sale was about 2 years ago. I continue to get requests for them so I am pleased to post this interesting and clean example for sale.

For most of the 20th Century Gruen was one of the most significant watch manufacturers in the marketplace. Their early efforts were produced alongside Rolex models in the same factory and many of the parts are interchangeable between some of the non-Curvex movements.

The restored satin silver dial is in excellent condition, with its contrasting yellow gold Breguet style numerals. The subseconds minute register is a highly sought after feature.

The case has very dramatic lugs which are stepped on the sides and roll down toward the leather strap fitted to the watch. The case, which is signed Gruen and Wadsworth,. is also marked 10K gold filled and has no wear through anywhere on the case.

The Gruen 17 jewel caliber 440, which is part of the famed Gruen Curvex family, was just serviced by my watchmaker and is keeping excellent time.

The watch measures 40 mm long and a wider than typical 24 mm wide, and is presented on a brown calf skin strap but can be shipped on a black strap if requested.
