Vintage Omega Speedmaster pre-moon landing circa 1969
Vintage Omega Speedmaster Professional with calibre 861 movement, with the basic Seahorse logo case back, Pre-moon model. The is one of the classic vintage watches every collector should own.
This vintage Omega Speedmaster watch, model 145.022-69 dates to 1969 based on its model number and serial number of 29 million.
One look tells you this is a very clean example of this durable and collectible model, which was used primarily as a pilots tool watch. Overall the condition can be described as crisp given the very black colour and contrast of the bezel and the light patina of the original hands against the original black dial. Many of these watches have had the dial replaced due to fading or discoloration and now have the newer Luminova luminous dials, this watch however is still fitted with the original tritium marker dial. Collectors are now paying a premium for the tritium dials when in clean condition. The Seahorse logo on the back of the watch tells you this is an early pre-moon model with the "Flight Qualified" text engraved on it. The back is in excellent condition with the logo still clearly visible.
The original Omega bezel is in fantastic condition. The watch is fitted with a padded and ridged leather sports strap however a brand new full-sized genuine Omega 1171-1 bracelet can be supplied at an additional cost. This is the correct Omega bracelet for this model according to the Omega parts catalog.
The Omega calibre 861 movement was just serviced by my watchmaker and functions flawlessly. A new signed Omega crystal was replaced at that time. Please note the original Omega signed crown fitted to the watch.
The Omega Speedmaster became a legend for being the first watch worn on the moon and is flight qualified for every NASA manned space mission.
The watch measures 40mm wide by 47mm long.
