Omega Speedmaster Mk2 vintage Racing Chrono, all original
Vintage Omega Speedmaster Professional Mark 2, with multi coloured racing dial. Original Tritium dial and hands. Watch fitted with Omega calibre 861 movement. Wonderful condition. Dates to 1970.
The Omega Speedmaster MkII was introduced in 1969, the same year as the moon landing and was the first variant of the Speedmaster Professional line.
Like the first Speedmaster Professional considered the Moonwatch, it was fitted with a cal 861 movement. The watch came in 3 versions, an uncommon gold-filled case model and a stainless steel model with either a black and white dial/hand combination or an exotic red/white orange and black racing dial combination.
The case of the mark 2 shares the Omega design approach taken in the late 1960's and early 1970's. While these watches were quite unpopular 10 years ago, they are now being sought by collectors for the unusual and dramatic styling.
The manual wind Omega calibre 861 movement was just serviced and is keeping excellent time and all chronographs functions perform as they should.
The serial number of the watch dates it to 1970. The original tritium dial and hands are in excellent condition and while not as vibrant as the newer replacement dials, it still shows off all the magnificent colours that make this racing dial variant so sought after.
The watch case measures 42 mm wide by 45 mm long and is supplied on the original Omega steel bracelet.
