Omega Constellation piepan Chronometer gold capped circa 1966

Short Description:
A vintage Omega Constellation Chronometer dating to 1966. Gold capped case with solid gold bezel. Uses the quick-set date calibre 564.

Long Description:

This Omega Constellation Chronometer, with gold capped case dates to 1966 based on the serial number in the 24 million range. This watch was bought from the original owner, a gentleman I've personally known for 20 years.

The Constellation dates back to the 1950's and the chronometer rated model has been in Omega's line-up ever since. This particular watch has an original satin colored pie-pan shaped dial with ebony inlaid hour markers. The watch including its iconic pie-pan dial are true style benchmarks having both been designed by Gerald Genta and is now being replicated on some of Omega's modern watches. The original gold coloured dauphine hands are still fitted to the watch.

The 24 jewel Omega caliber 564 Chronometer grade movement which is adjusted to 5 positions, was just serviced by my watchmaker and is keeping excellent time. The serial number of the movement in the 24 million range dates the watch to 1966.

The gold capped case features a heavy 14 karat gold bezel and case top cladding. This model is identified as reference 168.005, stamped inside the heavy screw on caseback, which still has a crisp gold Observatory medallion in the center of the back, showing all of the stars around the observatory.
The case measures 34.5 mm wide by 42 mm long.

The watch will be sold with the buyer's choice of black or brown leather straps.
