Rolex Wellington antique watch with original 24 hour dial
A spectacular antique Rolex wrist watch from the 1940's. Uses the famed Rolex 10 1/2 Hunter manual wind movement.
These Rolex Wellingtons are truly unusual watches.
The cases are North American made non-Oyster units but fitted with Swiss- made 10 1/2 Hunter movements.
Another unusual feature is the proclamation on the dial that the watch is either Observatory rated or timed to six positions. These certifications are normally reserved for Chronometer rated watches.
This watch was sold with a gold-filled case which was detailed and restored to its original lustre.
The movement in the watch is as mentioned the famed Rolex 10 1/2 ligne manual wind movement made famous during this period of the 1940's when many military participants recognized the durability and accuracy of these splendid movements. This movement was just serviced and is keeping excellent time.
The dial is a classic example of the 1940's Rolex. you will note the silvered background with luminous Arabic numerals as well as the red 24 hour outer chapter ring. This watch uses the text "adjusted 6 positions" on the top portion of the dial. Also note the delicate original fractional fifth of seconds markings on the dial.
The watch measures 31 mm wide by 39 mm long and will be supplied on the buyers choice of black or brown leather straps.
