Very Rare Patek Philippe watch circa 1925 white and yellow gold case
Ryrie Birks branded vintage Patek Philippe. Tiffany of Canada. Rare Patek Philippe watch from the 1920's
This is a very unusual and rare vintage Patek Philippe, dating to 1925. The watch is from the earliest Patek generation of wristwatches.
The watch was actually made for the famed Canadian Jeweller, Birks. Most recognize the name as the Canadian equivalent to American Jeweller Tiffany. At the time the company was called Ryrie Birks. The dial is signed Ryrie Birks in the top portion and on the lower half, around the sub-seconds chapter, the dial is signed Patek Philippe.
All the text on the dial is the original enamel applied to the dial. The background paint has been restored and redone. Note the gold Breguet style numbers and original spade hands fitted to the watch.
I have not seen another like this in person however, in researching the model, I have found an example that sold in 2005 for more than I am asking on this one.
The hinged case in essence square with an 18 karat yellow gold body and a white gold bezel. This is a configuration unlike any I have seen. The case and movement are all correctly signed.
The movement is signed Patek Philippe as well as Ryrie Birks Toronto and is adjusted to eight (8) positions. The was just fully serviced and is working flawlessly.
The case measures 26 mm wide by 37 mm long and 9 mm tall including the crystal. The watch is supplied on a brand new brown original Patek strap with a genuine Patek gold plated service buckle. Even the spring bars on this watch are original Patek Philippe.
