A lightly used Rolex Explorer One, reference 114270. This watch dates to 2003 based on the Y serial number.
The Explorer One has become linked with Edmund Hillary’s ascent to the peak of Mount Everest and is one of the most iconic watches still made by Rolex.
The black dial is the latest incarnation of one of watchmaking’s most iconic designs, using large Arabic numerals at the 3, 6 and 9 o’clock hour markers. The design is now popularly known as the Explorer style layout.
The all steel Oyster case features the more modern no holes on the outside design for spring bars. The attached Oyster bracelet has the corresponding correct solid lug ends with slots to remove the spring bars.
The watch is fitted with the Rolex automatic calibre 3130 Perpetual movement. This watch keeps excellent time and is still within Chronometer specifications.
The watch measures 36 mm wide and the Oyster bracelet has 11 links at present. Extra links are available.
