A large vintage watch made by the highly regarded manufacturer, Jaeger LeCoultre.
Many of the vintage LeCoultre’s you see in North America have cases made in the USA to avoid paying import duties, however this one has a Swiss signed case, perhaps indicating it was sold in Europe originally.
The high gloss black dial with Explorer style Arabic numerals at the 3,6 and 9 o’clock positions was just restored by a European craftsman and is in splendid condition.
The watch is fitted with the very highly regarded LeCoultre calibre P478/6 manual wind, 17 jewel movement. This movement has a high level of finish and was just serviced by my watchmaker and is keeping excellent time.
The stainless steel case measures a much larger than normal 37 mm wide by 45.5 mm long and is 10 mm thick including the domed acrylic crystal.
