A rare example of one of the more highly sought after Bubbleback models. The curved Self Winding script date sthe watch as one of the earleir models and limitied in distribution to limited markets.
The dial has a center spot of patina that gives it a 2 tone appearance, it is still quite appealing with a vintage character. the watch is still fitted with the unique Rolex “pencil” hands.
The case reference is 2940 and the serial number 402,xxx, date this model to the early 1940’s. The case is in excellent condition with deep grooves between the lugs. The watch has the original presentation engraving srcipt on the caseback, as I don’t usually polish these cases. However the srcipt is light enough that it could be polished out by the new owner.
The Rolex cal 630 movement was just serviced by an Authorized Rolex watchmaker and it keeps excellent time. Please note the original Rolex Osyter patent crown, that still screws down tight to the case tube.
The case measures 32mm wide by 39mm long and the watch is supplied on a new black leather strap.
