This vintage IWC dress watch is one of the better values in high grade watches on the market today. The larger vintage IWC models have always been amongst my favourite vintage watches. The high grade calibre 89 movement has developed a cult following with vintage watch collectors. Its highly sophisticated engineering and rugged design make it a perfect fit for a number of models in the IWC line. Many fans of the brand already know the movement was made famous when it was used in the desirable IWC Mark 11 Royal Air Force pilots watch. The calibre 89 movement is now recognized as one of the finest manual wind movements ever made.
The full-sized solid 18K gold case, is spectacular with its elongated spider lugs and the stepped case. The case is fully signed IWC as can be seen in the detailed inside case back photo.
The dial detail is stunning with its original satin finish with delicate IWC Schaffhausen script. Another interesting feature of the watch is the use of the “Explorer” style 3,6,9 Arabic numerals. More often than not, these dress watches will features stick batons, however the use of the Arabic numerals give this watch more of a casual sporty feel.
The case measures 36 mm wide by 43 mm long and is supplied on a brand new genuine leather strap. This watch was just serviced by my watchmaker and is running flawlessly.
